Tobias Orlander started working as a PhD student at the Department of Civil Engineering on September 1. The new PhD student will be conducting research at the Section for Geotechnics and Geology within rock mechanics.

The PhD project of Tobias Orlander is titled "Temperature and poroelasticity of sedimentary rocks". Assistant Professor Katrine Alling Andreassen and Professor Ida Lykke Fabricius will be supervising the project.

The PhD project consists of a combination of the ongoing research projects NEXT OIL (New Extreme Oil and Gas in Denmark)  and HeHo (Heat Storage in Hot Aquifers). Tobias will be collaborating with GEO, Mærsk Oil and Dong Energy on the NEXT OIL project and, among others, with GEUS and Dansk Fjernvarmes Geotermiselskab on the HeHo project. Combined, the projects will contribute to development of rock mechanics related to high-pressure and high-temperature conditions in the subsurface. The issue will be addressed experimentally and theoretically including numerical modelling.
