Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical engineering is the part of engineering that deals with soil and rock characterization, the definition of mechanical parameters and their engineering applications. Thereafter the effects of the soil/rock mechanical responses on built and natural environment due to various load and environmental conditions are addessed. Research at DTU within the main field geotechnical engineering at the Section for Geotechnics and Geology covers material characterization, physical modelling, constitutive modelling and field monitoring. In this context research is carried out in the experimental facilities at DTU and employing computational resources.
